Medical Conditions and High-Altitude Travel
I found this very interesting article on medical conditions and travel in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Travel to high altitude is increasing. The authors discuss physiological changes at high altitude, pretravel evaluation for common medical conditions, and the risks of high-altitude headache, acute mountain sickness, high-altitude pulmonary edema, and high-altitude cerebral edema.
It is interesting to note the alarming probability of side effects for all travellers.

Wow! This is a fascinating read. Always makes you wonder about the safety of all of those Everest expeditions, which are gaining popularity with people who can pay their way even if they do not have the physical conditioning
